I gota 79 1ton 4x4 rolling chassis for a project, just checked to see if it was square before I blast the frame and it appears to be 1/2 inch out of square. This is my first actual frame off restoration, how big a deal is a 1/2 inch and where can I get it fixed?

take to a local body shop and talk with them. they might only charge ya a little bit to set it up and square it out. ask to talk to the owner of the shop directly and not one of the office people.

in my experiance with working in bodyshops, when you talk to the owner directly, things get done alot easier.

a half inch isnt too bad. i drive an OBS where the passenger side is out of whack a bit. i think my uncle told me it was only off by about 1/8 of an inch. he set the alignment up where it shouldnt wear out tires abnormally.

with that said however, its a major annoyance because now i have a dead spot in the steering. it tracks straight and true but it dosent pull to 1 side or another, just have that dead spot in the wheel

do it right the first time. the more straight the frame, the better the result. now it dosent seam like much of a problem, but in time, it'll drive you up a wall. it still does til this day.

my uncle gave me a quote of about 400 bucks or so to get it straightened out, and maybe another 50 bucks to get the alignment done. i wouldnt expect urs to be alot more since its just the bare chassis, making it alot easier to work on. figure mine will be that much because it still has the whole body, drivetrain and what not still on it.

my guess... uhhh, in around the ballpark of 300 or so. prolly way off but its a small price to pay for that minor detail that can turn into a royal pain later on. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND AVOID THE HEADACHES!
