someone I know was telling me to get one with dual shocks? and tanks but wouldn't that ride rough though.

a little about me I am into cars for the most part but always wanted to get another truck in this body style. I have a super charged camaro z28 hence the scz28 name and it runs 11's.

i wouldnt worry about the dual shock thing, its a pretty easy conversion if you really want to do it, just involves swapping a bracket onto the frame to support the outer shock bolt, IIRC.

though there really is no advantage to a dual shock setup over a quality built, properly speced shock at each corner. shocks valved for a dual shock setup are pretty tough to find.

thanks, yeah the dual shocks isn't a big deal I do like the dual tank option though. Would be nice to have 30 something gallons.

here are a couple more utube ones I dig and are more of what I want being 4x4

perfer blue but I saw a red one on the net that looked cool too. Problem is these trucks are very pricey. The red one I found was 9500 but it said it was sold it was located in VA.

closely check the frame around the steering box, i dont care how clean or stock it is, they love to tear the frame apart.

why are you looking on youtube, why not craigs and ebay where you wont pay 6x to much.

which style of 73-87 do you like more? the later squared headlights or the early single round headlights. if you like the round lights (73-79, 80 is the only year where they went with the single square headlights on the older style) i'd go for a 79 but thats my personal favorite. if you like the newer dual headlights (81-87) then i would go with the 1987 because it would have the fuel injected TBI 350 in it and those IMO are the popular ones to get.

base model trucks in 80 came with single round headlights, like the 73-79s. my 80 has round headlights.

81+ trucks were available with both single and dual headlights. 81 and 82 had the turn signals in the bumper as opposed to in the grille.

'76 was pre- emmission control for those trucks, so 73-76 you wouldn't need to run cats.

By the way you can swap on a 25-31 gallon K5 Blazer tank between the rear frame rails, or even the massive Suburban tank which I think is 40 gallon.

'73 will have a points dizzy, '74 is when HEI became standard equipment.

and dual tank TBI trucks are actually more common than single tank TBI trucks.

The F44 option will give you a couple more years with no emission equipment. My '78 has no EGR or cats.

GVWR has more to do with it than anything, you could get an 88-93 light duty truck without a cat if the GVWR was high enough. my 80 with its 8600# GVWR doesn't require cats.

Exactly, but the F44 was a way of bypassing emission requirements on half tons. In Texas, half tons are not required to have cats until 1984 unless it came with one from the factory. My brother in law has a '94 C2500 without a factory cat.
