    i'm going to detail my truck. i'm looking for a buffer, and everyone is talking about the porter cable. is there a real advantage to using these than using an orbital buffer.

    PC is an orbital, actually a random orbital

    I use mine from waxing and that's about it really, I've got an older Craftsman Buffmaster rotary I use daily (It's a DeWalt 849 knockoff buffer), works great, just a tad heavy...

    As mentioned, the PC is an orbital polisher. The differences between it and the "cheapies" are variable speeds, more powerful motor, warranty, pad adjustability, etc.
