I just took my stock 17" wheels off and now I need to clean the
back side of the wheel so I can store them till snow comes.
Whats the best way to get the back side clean?

i just use westleys bleche-white on the outside & the inside with a bug-pad type sponge or an old worn out scotch-brite pad. something a little rougher than an actual sponge, but won't scratch the finish. the westleys you can't use on certain finishes, but you'll be fine since they have a clearcoat on them.
edit - spray the westleys on when the wheel is dry. i think it dilutes too much when it's already wet. just watch the dirt & grime roll off.

on the simple green, let it sit a min then scrub it with a tire brush and watch it all hose off

i think westleys works better than simple green, but to each their own.
try em both, and see.

I used a box of brillo pads and some elbow grease. I suppose an APC would work good too

Some APC and a stiff brush. Spray it on while the wheel is dry and agitate it with a wet brush. Then spray a little more on and go to town scrubbing.
ive used simple green and simple clean wheel cleaner and a stiff brush.

poorboys spray and rinse and a brush.
Soap and water.
I need to do the same thing. I tried simple green, orange blast, westleys, dawn. And I can't get them clean like I want. All that brake dust has built up on the inside of the stock wheel and no matter how much I scrub on them they just wont come clean like everyone says they do. Everybody always says just scrub and hose off and it cleans them but doesn't work like that. I need a powerful cleaner or something and I can't find anything to work
Meguiars Wheel Brightener. You can get it online. Its a wheel acid. DO NOT use it if they are uncoated aluminum wheels. It is a very strong wheel acid.

Clean the wheels as part of a normal wash. Rinse clean .. while WET use some simply green and a big foam sponge to get off the majority of dirt. For really stubborn spots you can use a SCOTCH BRITE pad on the back of a sponge. AFTER you wash them to your satisfaction, I recommend drying fully and using some SPRAY wax on the backside. It will protect as well as make the next clean up MUCH easier.
soap and water with a lil bit of elbow grease
