I really need something like this to get rid of all the scratches in my paint but I'm scared of what if this doesn't take them out or what if I totally just fugg up my paint. Thoughts?

Heres a link to a thread I started a while back about this

Re: I kinda want this but scared to jump into it really...

If I were you, that is precisely the kit I would be asking for with Christmas coming up. That kit has the correct compound and polish to permanently remove those moderate to heavy swirls and the correct type of pads to work with those compounds for that type of paint condition.

You can't (and I have tried) fugg up that paint with a porter cable and Meguiar's 105. It's pretty much fool proof because if you start to put to much pressure into the pad with the porter cable, it simply clutches and stops spinning so that you can't burn through the paint.

You're paint is in such dire condition that one quick pass with Meguiar's 105 won't make it flawless. You might have to make several passes and take some time working at it, or even find that you might get better results if you were to wetsand first with 1500 or 2000 grit. That kit is capable of removing 1500 grit wetsand marks so that also a good reason why that kit is a good fit for you.

You mean swirls that you might create with the stuff supplied in that kit. Unless you coat your pads with gravel and sand, that's not going to happen. Bad buffer swirls or trails come from bad technique and methods used with the rotary style buffers and wool pads. The porter cable and foam pads, in my experience, can't even begin to scar the paint like that. You should have no worries with that.

Offer to practice on your paint and apply what you learn there to their rides. You will have enough of that Meguiar's 105/205 to use on and erase years off of their vehicles too and they would be hard pressed to pay less than what that kit costs to have someone else detail their rides. If the investment benefits them, parents tend to respond positively to that sort of thing.

mehh i don't like that kit. i rather have the adam's kit more. it may be $80 more but it comes with a couple more things and imo better compounds/polishes.

it would probably be cheaper to pay some one to do it but after the first time it would be more then what it would if you just bought this.

that's another thing. if you buy one you could do this to your friend's rides if there's is bad and charge them like $75 to do it and get this payed off.

i would say i would do it but i don't feel like spending 5 hours to wash, clay, buff, and wax/sealant someone else car.

EDIT: if you dont wanna spend that much i just bought a cheep one from pepboys for $30 and a couple other things and did a good job. it didn't get every scratch out but my paint/body has a lot of dents and chips so i wasn't going to try to hard on it.
