Clean it a lot, biggest thing, is lift the carpet up and blow air under it, just get it aired out really good

would it be bad to use a shampooer machine on it? Its nothing special. He was gonna pay me some money to get smell out but I wouldn't know what to use. Its a nissan pathfinder. 2000 or something like that.

Re: Gasoline was spilled in truck on carpet

I would think that it would take the smell out, I would blow under the carpet to if you can like stated above. maybe spray it with degreaser first then shampoo?

Re: Gasoline was spilled in truck on carpet

Well, I have no way of getting air. I dont own a compressor. I lack a garage lol. Is degreaser safe on carpet for truck? I have super clean. Would that work?

I was thinking after I did clean it some how, I have this stuff from dollar store I use in my living room for pets, I lvoe my carpet powder, makes stuff smell better. I dunno. I could use the extra money for being out of work, I'd like to help him so he can put his dog back in the truck. Fumes are horrible. He lets it air out everyday.

Iwas thinking of purchasing that Adam's carpet and upholstery cleaner spray. Wonder if that would work.

Re: Gasoline was spilled in truck on carpet

Well I would test the degreaser in an area you cant see first. I would try everything you have and if that doesnt work then maybe email adams to see if that stuff would help. Maybe try vinegar on the carpet?

well maybe Il ltake the job. I have to do a detail on outside so I told him it will defintely need to stick with me a little longer to see if I can get rid of it. I have a few items I can try first. I mean I was gonna get the Adams for my truck anyway and for another car I do.

Well then have him pay half or so if you do buy it, or email them and ask what would be best to get gas out, I would definitely try for him since you will have it and I would think he will kick you some money for atleast trying.

Well he was gonna throw an extra 50$ to try and work on the gas. So I will give it a try. End of week the weather looks best. I didn't think I'd get this fast of a response lol. I never spilled gas inside a car so this is my first time.

lol well I am college so things are boring on sunday nights, but for $50 no reason not to try it, If it were me I would try some vinegar to spray on and soak then vaccum up or use the shampooer afterwards, if that doesn't work then maybe try the adams stuff.

Charcoal works great for absorbing smells, put it in a cup or something and let it sit in there.

Re: Gasoline was spilled in truck on carpet

Buy a big can of cheap coffee and spread it out around the truck, put it down really heavy where the spill was and let it sit with the windows doen for a few hours.

Vacuum it and spray a lot and i mean a lot of car febreeze. We spilled a 2 gallon gas can in my gf`s honda passport and it took care of it.

    Good luck

Simple green it, shop vac it, shampoo it. works every time. leave the windows down all day to get the rest of the fumes out, and dont smoke in it for a while.
