ok so we are in the process of detailing TahoeBlueGirls 98 tahoe, but the paint on this thing has really been neglected. the people who had it before her probably didnt even ever consider wax. anyway, we've washed the whole hoe and hit it with a meguires mild clay bar, multiple times in spots and hit the hood with meguires paint cleaner so far, and while it looks shiny for like 2 feet away, the paint is still very rough to the touch and theres many visible deposits on the paint. how do we get this paint smooth and clean again?

After the clay bar try 3m rubbing compound then polish and then your favorite wax!It sounds like you might have some oxidation since the prev.owners didn't take very good care of it!Anyways thats were I would start!
