Guys im getting real close to a buy. Im still having a hard time finding the right d-max and are finding some pwerstrokes
I dont have the moeny to pay over 20,000. So heers where im at.

D-max would be a first genration which is 01-04.
Only problem with these that i can find are injectors. There so bad Gm raplces them 01-03 but not 04. There also a time restraint and millage on there. SO im alittle worried.

Powerstroke would be a 7.3 turbo. It would be a 99 threw 03. They hav glow plug problems form what i read and the fuel system gumms up???

Im a GM guy bye heart and will always own a GM but i need a very depenble truck for the amount of money i can spend i know its doable just real confused and little scared on gettin a deisel that i dont know alot about. thanks for any imput guys.
Also when buying is there anythign i should look for on the truck sighns of wear and tear on the motor

    Re: dmax or powerstroke?

1st gen dmax had injector issues but I believe they all have a 200,000 mile warrenty on them. I have owned 2 fords one with the 7.3 the other was a 6.0. The 7.3 is much better then the 6.0 in my opinion. The dmax beats them both hands down. I think you would be alright with either one just pick the truck you like better. There are guys out there that have the 1st gen and never had injector issues. Just remember you are going to see more bad then good on the net because that is where people come to seek help with a problem. Good luck with your choice if you have any more questions I hope I can help.

7.3's have problems with cam positioning sensors like you wouldn't believe and 6.0's have problems keeping the heads on if you want to tune it up much. In my opinion the 7.3 and d max are both very dependable but the 7.3 is going to lack the power a d max has
