yea they were all 4l80e, 6lug 14SF rear, still had the 6lug 8.25 ifs front though

pretty sure the transfer case was just the 241, and i dont think any differences were made to the frame, although i think they did come with heavier torsion bars for the front

one of my roommates old frat brothers had one, a 94 K1500 2 door Blazer (dont think it was labeled tahoe yet), red, looked pretty good, ran great, not a real powerhouse, but it would move that 2door around pretty good, and he averaged like 19-20mpg around school

    Re: diesel tahoe??

I've seen the OBS trucks with the diesel as well.

I don't think the 2drs are that rare, I've also seen a few. But I guess when people attach too much value on the low production ##s... that's where the $$ skyrockets.

You could probably build a bad a$$ diesel for the cash you would spend on the 2dr version. Maybe less.

I owned a '95 diesel Tahoe. It actually had a 10-bolt rear, not a 14-bolt SF. It also had 10" drums in the rear, just like a 5.7L 2DR Tahoe would have.

I know late 2008 early 2009 there will be the suburban diesel 4.5L. It will also be in half-ton pickups. Maybe a tahoe will also come with that engine. I don't know for sure. That would be a nice little rig to tow the boat and those tackle in the back.

I think both the 4DR Tahoes and 1/2-ton gas Suburbans received the 14-bolt SF axle with 11" drums.

I wish the diesel Tahoe would have come with a 14-bolt SF, just for "already there" strength when one adds a chip and/or turbo and opens it up. I've yet to see anyone use a different turbo in a 6.5L Tahoe...

I may just buy another diesel Tahoe in a week or two. Miss my old one, and I found another relatively close by...

    Re: diesel tahoe??

Eh, everyone has their opinions... I have a K2500 pickup with a 6.5L TD, and it does what I need it to do.

As far as diesels go, they're simple to work on. Even the '94-up 6.5L's with the electronic fuel injection pump... like working a carb'd gas engine, and the Duramax and Powerstroke are the overengineered EPA-friendly fuel-injected gassers.

Unless your engine grenades on you, a 6.5L is cheap to work on compared to other diesels. And the grenade/catasrophe stories you hear about online... ever notice how vehicle owners only chime in when they have a problem? Lots of 6.2/6.5's out there, and the majority just hum along doing their job. People generally come online for help, and end up bad-mouthing this or that.

If I buy the Tahoe I'm talking to owner 'bout, and the engine blows, then I'll be swapping in a Cummins 4BT. Heck, at some point I'll swap one in anyway and sell the 6.5L.. or keep it. Fewer parts, direct injection, and opportunity for more power.

The 4BT is a good economy engine for trucks, but for my pickup I'll keep my 6.5L.

Thats a great deal, just make sure the motor and trans is good. Take your dad with you, trust me, they know more than us young guys do about buying used trucks.
