    Gas in the Duramax...

One of my C4500 Duramax trucks was filled with gas by an employee and ran until the engine died. I went to drain/change the fuel filter (got stopped up once) and noticed it reaked of gas. Never had this happen to a Duramax, only a Powerstroke. I know the Powerstrokes are normally fine after draining the fuel and refilling. What are the odds of something getting damaged and what could have been?

If the employee doesnt have enough common sense to realize the difference between gas and diesel powered vehicles he's a moron and you probably dont want someone that makes such senseless mistakes continue costing you money.

Although I wasnt completely serious, when I said to fire him... It was more in a joking manner.

But mistake or not, it was stupid, and if the employee is a man, he probably drives a honda civic with a 2 ft wing on the trunk and estimates his car to do a 10 second 1/4 mile.

He did... there is no fuel receipt from that day for fuel so it appears he caught his screw up and paid for it. I can't do anything really since I have no proof HE did it... but how else would my truck get filled up with gas?

No, I haven't had the time to mess with it. I put him in another truck and not worried about it yet. Probably mess with it on Monday if I don't get to it tonight.

When you are a screw up employee, yes. When this is your first mistake after being with the company 6 months, no.

Not enough lubrication in ultra low diesel diesel for them either but somehow they last.

I would fill the fuel filter about half full of ATF and put it on, prime it, drain the tank and put diesel in it and either ATF or a quart of engine oil or whatever. ATF will more then likely dye it red which is why I said engine oil in the tank. You won't know until you get it running how bad it actually is.

can't put ATF in many newer truck. some trucks will detect teh red dye and shut down. it prevents them from running on off raod diesel that is dyed red.

Would it not detect green dye in diesel or purple dye (up here in Canada) ? Or can the new trucks tell the color as well? Sounds a little fishy to me, I'm gonna guess that is something else in the fuel that it would be detecting.
