Sorry I meant to post them in the first post. They didnt take I need 5 post's I guess. Then I got side tracked trying to track down a high pitch screech/squeal at higher rpm's.

Look into Diamond Eye for the exhaust, fits well and the price is great ($260 shipped about 6 months ago). Alligator is a goo place to get it from. The factory airbox from a 97 and up (K47 option code) is regarded as being as good as it gets for the intake. If the PMD is still mounted to the injection pump you need to move it to either in front of the truck or into the airbox. The turbo's on this engine are beyond garbage. A lot of guys are running a holset knock off commonly called HX40WII, is is about $300.

Maybe. More likely the belt tensioner is our of spec. A quick check if it is an engine noise or a belt driven noise is to pull the belt and fire it up. Run for just long enough to see if the problem is still there or not.

It ended up being a bad belt. Silky smooth throttle sound now.

    Very nice!

A DE exhaust, like previously mentioned, with downpipe and a remote mounted PMD w/cooler/heatsink, will provide you with some solid upgrades for your truck.

For future mods, grab yourself an exhaust gas temperature/pyrometer gauge, first and foremost, before you do any other modifications (such as new turbo or adding more fuel).

Clean and or replace the CDR, it is like a PCV valve on a gasser. It looks like a tuna fish can and it is mounted above the passenger side valve cover.

I good cleaning with carb cleaner will usually make them work properly again. I never hurts to do the hose.

If you still got a lot after cleaning the CDR valve out, try replacing it (they are getting harder to find but not impossible).

If you don't want to spend money, you can perform a manometer test to check if it's operating properly. I haven't done it, nor do I claim to know how, but it's something I should learn

But here is pretty much all you need to know about this subject in thread form:

Ok looks like I already have a k47 airbox it has a little sticker on it. And the exhaust I crawled under its straight piped looks to be 3 or 4". I thought it was unusually loud but wasn't sure how they were supposed to sound. also found out is has a positrack rear end in it.

    a few vids.
