Ive got this 1976 GMC shortbed Sierra 2wd, that ive been poking around with for some time. Anyway the bed is from a 79 pu, the cab is from an 86 diesel pu i purchased from a salvage yard. I have some fenders that i got, for the 73-79 model that have the body line that wraps around the front turn signal light. But they are in slightly rough shape, so now im thinking of going with the 81-87 body style, were the body line goes streight across the fender. Ihe doors are prefab's for the 73-76 yrs, but dont fit well and are cheep, probly because i purchaced them from a local bone yard that sales thiese prefab parts. The ? that i have is, is when i purchace fenders for the newer style clip, will the front of the 73-76 doors mate with the 81-87 fenders, just were the top of the fender meets with the door. The reason im wandering about this is because in 1981, they changed the hood and fender design were the front end slopes more. So im wandering if anyones ever had any problems with fender to door line up, with a 81-87 clip to a 73-79 door? (Please Advise)

its a direct bolt on, that has been done hundreds of times. you will need the hood, core support, fenders and inner fenders, headlight and grille parts, a headlight wiring harness, 81+ hood hinges, an 81+ cowl panel, and the wiper mechanism from the newer truck. use body bushings that match your frame, and everything will line up perfect.

Thanx (GreaseDog) for your responce about my ?, i guess what i was trying to find out is, is the part of the door thats just under the wingglass, and above the body line. I know that the bottom part of the door and fender lines up just fine, but since they changed the slope of the front clip in the 81-87's, i guess i was concurned that the shape of the fender went into the door. I just dont want to have any kind of gap between the 81-87 fender and 73-76 door. In any event ill just move on, before somebody desides to the H*ll out of me LOL
