Yes they can. PPG makes a special clear coat for polished alum. The wheels on my old Chevy in my sig are polished Centerlines I had coated last May right out of the box. Awesome shine, and I just clean them with a sponge and hose when I wash the truck. Still wasn't comfortable running them in the winter up here in the salt belt, seen enough f'ed up factory clear coated wheels with the way they throw that crap around here. Be putting them on my new (to me) Gmc around the end of April. Good luck, Jim.

with the clear powdercoat, would it take away any shine to the wheel? About how much would it cost for my 17s to get coated? thanks.

Zoop seal is a product designed to seal the polished metal in for a long time. they are worth a shot to look at as well. I did my stocker rims with cheap spray can clear and it looked reasonable enough. I wasn't looking for perfection though, just something to keep it looking nice.

is that 30 for paint or powder?

I had mine powder coated before i had the tires initially mounted and its easily the best mod i did. Ive had the wheels run through 3 winters now and you would think i bought them last month. Ive never used any sort of polish or protectant on them either .. just wash them with soapy water and they shine up real nice. But $30 a wheel isnt bad at all. I had mine done at one of our powdercoaters that owed us money, but he said it would run about $150 a set.

$30 a wheel is a great price for clear powdercoating. It will take away a little of the shine, but not much at all.

Is it not enough to justify polishing them every week

You shouldnt have bought polished wheels if you didnt want to polish them...thats 1/2 the fun of owning them

yes its pink...feel free to bash it like every other uncreative douche does via the interweb. If you have such a life maybe you should have bought chrome wheels...If youre really worried buy ceramic pads.

What made you go with the pink, does the Breast Cancer foundation sponsor you? I would have bought chrome but I saw some boyd coddingtons in the paper for $700 brand new, and didnt want to pass that up. I also just put on some ceramic pads about a month ago. I was just lookin for something to make it a little easier on myself.

The very small loss of shine is worth not having to polish them every week.
