I dont know much about the Perelli's, but i really like my Nittos. They are wearing nicely and an all around decent tire. I would buy another set...

I've had my Nitto's for about 2 weeks now and I've been on a long trip and have endured days of heavy rain. These tires have performed flawlessly. By far my favorite tires so far.

I like the nittos likewise. Have you checked out the toyo a/t's? They are around the same price too.

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler vs. Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Keep me posted.. I have heard great things about the terra grapplers. The place I order mi rims from run the grapplers in the winter all the time.. I would imagine that it would be a better set than the scorpions.. Due to the fact that thei have "lugs" that r good for rough conditions. I have heard that there one of the better at tires, and to keep awa„ from the bfg's, because there bad at separating on gravel. Hopefulli these are good tires, I plan on putting 305/45 on mi 22"s. Should be good.

nitto and toyo are the same company. i forget which one is the sub of the other. regardless, i'd go with the nittos or like others have mentioned the open country. i think pirelli just joined in on the offroad tires to get a share of the market. just my two cents. i'll take them back if needed.

Thanks for all the info guys... Hopefully be picking something up in the next few days.

From everyone I've talked to, the Pirelli's are a great tire, a little stiffer, and maybe a little more ALL than TERRAIN. Supposedly great on the road, but not very aggressive. Also a little stiff.

Odd thing is, the scorpions have 2/32" deeper tread than the Grapplers. Why is buying tires harder than buying a house?

i've got 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers and I love them. They do really well in sand and in the rain, and not to bad in mud (for an a/t). I'm not sure how they wear cause they only have 1000 miles on them.

Wait wait whaaaat! The pirellis got more tread depth?? Seriousli? ****. There lookin like thei got absoluteli no sidewall, and to me the tire appears to be a street at, for the occasional romp off pavement!

Nittos have about 10k on them, great tires. A little rough for the first few miles after sitting. Been running about 36PSI, seems to perform much better.

Re: Nitto Terra Grappler vs. Pirelli Scorpion ATR

I had nittos on my 2004 and hated them. If you're gonna go through a lot of mud or anything near mud they suck. They just sit on top and spin, I definitely wouldnt recommend them.

The way I see it, an OBS is like sex-when it's good it's terrific, and when it's bad it's still pretty good!
