Adjust headlights

This is a discussion on Adjust headlights within the Exterior Tech forums, part of the General Discussion category; i just put new headlights on my 1997 chevy k1500 and they are not aligned how do i aligh them...

    Look at your core support above each headlight and you'll see holes that if you peek down them, there is a torx headed screw (Torx 20 or 30, I always forget) - 2 for each headlight. One adjusts the headlight left/right angle, the other adjusts up/down.

    To align them, find level ground and park directly in front of a wall or garage door, give yourself a couple feet to walk. Measure the height of your headlights on the truck from the ground and measure the distance between the lights. Make note. On the wall mark (with blue painters tape for example) the center point of the truck. From that center point, also mark on the wall, from your notes, the location of the left and right headlights. Then take the 2 headlight marks, and remark them 2 inches lower than the original marks. Back up 25 feet, make sure you are still centered. Kick the lights on, pop the hood, and adjust the lights until the top cutoff is centered on the 2 marks you made on the wall for the headlights. That's it! :)
