Ok, so im tired of the bowtie+"silverado" and "chevrolet" badges on the tailgate. i want to do something different instead of completely de-badging it. here is what it looks like now,

I was thinking of changing out the silverado badge for the newish nbs tahoe z71 badges. like this

I was thinking put that where the silverado badge is and a bowtie in the center of the tailgate. so what you guys think? And just an FYI i plan on removing the Z71 decal on the side and replacing with a newer one.

I personally hate the bowtie in the middle of the tailgate like the NNBS trucks, but I like those z71 emblems that you have posted. If you're not wanting to completely debadge, I'd just put on of those on the lower right hand corner where the chevrolet sign is, and just leave everything else off. As well, I think the z71 stickers on the boxsides are super cheesy.

Thanks for the input man, and i know i was pitching that idea around also. i kinda like the decals on the sides but hate the style i have. but i think those badges would be ALOT cleaner than the decals and i could do without. what would you think about doing the same on the sides? too much?

Put the Z71 on the Lower left corner. It'll look stock like the ones on the early Z71 Tahoes with the Gold badges. I wouldn't run the bowtie in the center either, never liked it.

I've been wanting to do that on the liftgate of my Tahoe ever since I got it.

if you heat up the decals/stickers/badges first with a heat gun or hair dryer they usually don't leave a residue, but yeah, that goo gone should work, or you can get road and tar remover from your dealership that will work too. It's expensive though I believe, goo gone is probably your best bet. Or if you're a glutton for punishment, heat it up and rub it off with your fingers.

    +Juan.

and for removal just swing on down to Napa and have them order u a 3M eraser wheel "stripe off wheel". plug that baby into your cordless drill, and get to work. takes that goo off, and doesnt hurt the finish. a little soap and water wash off when your done and its all over.

well i finally broke down and went to the dealership and asked for the part. $58 a pop. and an hour later i talked to my friend that owns a body shop and said he could get me some for about 20 bucks, and thats not the 99-04 thats the actual ones for an 05 the chrome ones. so i asked him to get me 3 of them :) so my advice is to ask some friends and see who you know. online came up with zip

I really like having my tailgate cleaned up. I would put those Z71 decals on the pillar behind the door, where the LT or LS decals usually get placed.

Whatever you do, getting rid of those current badges on the tailgate is a great step in the right direction.

i think what im going to do is put them on the pillar and then debadge my tailgate except for the z71 which will go in the bottom left corner

at first i was thinking about putting them on the front door above the molding towards the hinges but that'll probably look wierd
