Ok so I just did the NBS rear bumper swap on my 98z and now I'm thinking bout putting a newer style front bumper on. Have any of yall ever seen this done or have any ideas on which style bumper would work best on the obs trucks. I'm thinking like the 02 style because its pretty close to flat on the top like the obs trucks. Or the style on the 03-06 chevys because they are close to flat across the top besides the part that dips down for the grill which if put on my obs I could just fill that strip in which diamond plate or black plastic. Help me brain storm guys.

The headlights grill won't line up right with the obs hood and fenders I'd have to swap the whole front clip which I'd like to do with the 06 style front end. I'm looking to just change out the front bumper for now. And I can't upload pics because I use the site from my blackberry. There's other forums on here with pics of the rear bumper swap. Sorry.
sombody on this forum did it you gota section the grill and the front bumper it involved plastic welding

I've always wanted to take a '99-'02 GMC front bumper and put it on a '94-'98 GMC. Cut out the grille below the parking lights to allow for the raised ends of the new bumper to fit better. Someday maybe...
I'm just wondering about the way it would mount up as far as the different brackets
True true. But how bout the widths and heights of the mounts on the bumper compared to the obs bumper. Need someones input who's just swapped the bumper out so I know what steps they took and what bumper works best. The nbs rear bumper happens to fit perfect around the rear of the obs. I was wondering if the front bumper was the same or if its wider or smaller.
Getting the right mounting height for the new bumper is just a matter of test fitting it to get it lined up where you want it before welding up the bumper mounts. That won't make any difference between my Escalade clipped truck or a stock truck. The new bumper width is pretty close to the stock bumper as well. It might be just a hair wider. I had mine sectioned about 4" or so and tucked under the fenders because it looked a lot better that way, but I think the stock widths are pretty close.
Ok thanks I was wondering bout the width. I was really worried bout moking it up and fabbing the mounts but was wondering it it would look right as far as width and all.
Here's a shot of mine mocked up before the bumper was sectioned. It might help give you a little better idea.

THAT bumper, no. It wouldn't work well with your grille because of the dip in the middle of it. A '99-'02 Silverado bumper would be your best bet. They're pretty much flat all the way across the top. I just used that picture to illustrate the width of the bumper compared with the OBS sheetmetal since the GMC and Chevy bumpers will be the same width.
Ok perfect advise. I was thinking that the 99-02 bumper would be the best style to work with because of the flat top. The other style is just more square looking so itd look good since the obs its square but that dip along the top would mess up the look. So guess its the 99-02 that ill have to work with.
The '99-'02 Silverado bumper is the only flat NBS bumper. Mine is a '99-'02 Sierra bumper. ALL of the '03-'07 bumpers have a dip in them.
so anyone have a link to another nbs bumper swap thread with pics?
