Will a 90 k1500 tailgate fit on a 95?

Hi, I'd appreciate help on this before I buy a tailgate from an out-of-state seller.

I have a fleetside 1995 Silverado k1500 missing a tailgate. I found a fleetside 1990 Silverado k1500 tailgate for a good price, but I'm in VA and he's in IL. Shipping can be arranged. I called the parts department at a Chevy dealer, they told me 92-96 is one part number, prior to that is another. They can't tell me the difference beyond the number.

Will this fit my truck? They look exactly alike.

I don't see it wouldn't. Different part numbers could just be handle differances or something.

That's the way I see it too. I don't mind swapping a latch as long as the bed and tailgate work together.

It also could be whether they have holes drilled for that sticker thingy they used to have. At least, the 92-96 Ford ones were different whether they had the metal thingys on them, maybe Chevys are the same.

I know it is the same tailgate skin, the tailgate will match up with the bed. But like they said the way it latches just may be a little different. I know my dad's 90 tailgate has a few different things on it than my 97 does, but still same tailgate.

I bought the tailgate and it shipped out today UPS, with an arrival estimate of Wednesday, 5/9. I'll let you all know how it turns out. I'm optimistic from what information I could gather and your input.

Yeah I had one off of a 89 on my 96 the only difference was the bracket that kept the tail gate going down and hitting ur bumper

Yea the OBS tailgates were all the same as far as how they fit, the only differences was how CHEVROLET was written on them (fully across with silver background, fully across without silver background, small in corner, ext)
