UGHH
Any advice on a semi-rigged home fixing so I dont have to pay my body guy out the azz for the repair?

Why...was your truck, in the pen with a 2000 pound animal with horns? Just wondering..
1999 Chevy K1500 Classic. 2" lift, 285 Cooper STT's, 17" Eagle 079 rims. Roll Pan rear bumper. 2- Kicker 12" CVR's, 2- Kicker 6x9 coaxials, Kicker coaxial door speakers, Kicker SX500.2 Amp/FONT] Kenwood head unit. 45% front tint, black in the back. H.I.D. Headlights, L.E.D. Tails.
First your bed side is composite, not traditional fiberglass, in this case that will help with repairing the damage.
To "rig" it and make it last:
Tape all of the composite pieces back into their proper place with duck tape from the out side.
Bend some medium gauge solid steel wire (coat hanger will work) into an S shape. You'll need several of these
Heat the metal "S" up not glowing but hot enough to push into the bed side from the back (inside of the wheel well) over each crack. For bigger cracks use several of them. DO NOT heat these up glowing or it could start a fire and don't push them too far in you could push all the way through. You'll only want to push them in enough to hold everything in place.
Go inside make and eat a sandwich, have a cold beverage of your choosing. (this is to allow everything an hour or 2 to cool)
Scuff all around the repair on the back side / inside of the fender with some 80 grit to give the next step something to grip into.
Layer some fiber glass over the inside of the fender where you made the repair.
Let this dry for a day
Then cut and buff what scratches will come out and call it a day.
Do some searches on how to repair sport bike fairings, basically this process had been used to varying success to repair damaged bike fairings and should work on the composite bed sides of your truck. It won't look perfect but will be better than holes in the bed side and should cost less than $50.
Like anything if you take you time and go slowly it should look ok enough, or at least better than now.

meh I wasn't trying to start a p*ssing match. It's the same material used in saturns and other newer "fiberglass" cars.
Long story short it's in the manufacturing process that's the major difference. If it were fiberglass someone would have to layup a mold of the part. With composites they can produce a similar product in strength and flexability, but injection mold it. Providing a less labor intensive process while increasing quality control and decreasing part variations.

Its wasnt in a "pen" lol, I keep my horse on a pasture with about 25 head of bull so they are free to come and go as they please and apparently his head was too itchy to scratch on the fence or panels..and he thought my truck would make a fair substitution
Ahhh when it happened that seriously crossed my mind lol, but the bull is actually worth more alive than it is dead- he's a rodeo bucking bull.

I'm gonna try something a little more reliable than duct tape.. because its probably gonna be a few months before I fix it, and if I happen to take it offroad.. Idk it duct tape will hold up to mud![]()
