Looking good. Minus the blue it looks like a completed version of my interior. What paint/dye did you use?

This thing has been taken apart so long that I forgot what it looked like. It's finally coming together. I have a few custom things I am going to do to the dash, nothing fancy, just personalizing it. I have my blue/black bucket seats, and my Glo gauge overlay ordered and this week the wife gave the ok to spend a couple hundred more on stuff. WOOHOO!!! Gotta love a hot wife that supports your habits. ok so here are some pics, hope this works.

I used Krylon Fusion. I bought a can of the SEM and Fusion last year and I painted two pieces. I let them set for a week and then I tried to scratch them. The fusion had better scratch resistance. This year I painted my sill plates with the Fusion and put them back into the truck after a week dry time. 3 months later they still look good. All I have had to do was wipe them down to get mud/dirt off of them. I have a hard time letting things cure especially when I want to put it back together. I forced myself to let all the parts dry for about a week and they all seem to be doing well.
wow that is exaclt what I want to do to my interior... the gloss black then I am going to paint some of my pieces with the same pewter paint that I have on the outsid eof my truck. Any ideas on where to buy black seatbelts though???

I ran into the same problem. GM never offered black seatbelts for my application so I have been doing some research on getting them dyed. I will let you know what I come up with.Originally Posted by Grunmn

Ok grunm I answered your other post on the black seat belts, so I won't repeat it here. I just sprayed my drivers door panel with SEM and it came out awesome. I have also used the SEM on the carpet of the speaker box and the back seat. The carpet came out really nice and black, the fabric came out a little lighter, but still good enough for a back seat. The pictures make it look lighter than it rerally is since the flash reflected. In person they look good. The taped part of the door panel is going to be done in the blue I am using. Should be an excellent contrast. I still have the rear seatbelts to do tomorrow, put my el glo overlay onand mount the tweeter in the drivers door panel and I can install it. It's been a good vacation week for me

Looks good....I would have sanded it all down first though. Good work none the less Post pics when put back together
Hey on your door panels did you take the insert out before spraying or did you spray the cloth insert along with the door? It's hard to tell since the insert looks greyish..Originally Posted by quadracr

Since I used the SEM on the vinyl and it worked so well on the carpet I left it attached. The picture washes out the color. In person it doesn't look too bad. It worked really well on the carpet.
I plan on wrapping my inserts with vinyl, but hey thanks for the info it's all really good to know. I'll hopefully get started on my project soonOriginally Posted by quadracr

I like the black.![]()
CKTA, thanks, it does look pretty pimp. I did a lot today, but in the end it didn't really look like it. Just finishing up a few things. Completed another vent and installed it. Painted the seatbelts and the rear seat again. Installed my el glo gauges, but they have to come back out. There is some bleed through at the top where the brake and antilock light are. If that wouldn't have happened I could have put the dash cover back on. I'm at the point now where all I have left is painting, which is time consuming. Spray a coat, wait................................spray another coat, wait............................... It's killing me not to throw this thing back together in a hurry, but that is what seperates the mediocre from the great. Oh well here are some pictures in these threads.http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forum/s...d.php?t=125955

Back seat in and speaker box in and wired for the subs. Talked to NR and they said to send gauges back so they can verify the problem and ship new one. Drivers door done, except I forgot to paint the interior handleOh well maybe I'll pick up the Cadillac handles....they are the chrome ones, aren't they? I should have my new seats next Wednesday and my gauges. Pictures for today.
hey quad, what kind of prep work did you do to get your paint to stick? also where would i find the krylon fusion, or which ever is the best for the dash peice that surrounds the gauges and such?

Washed it down with a good water soluable degreaser called orange blast from Walmart. Then I wiped it down again with another degreaser called prep all. I think it's made by kleen strip. It's basically a solvent type. Then I just sprayed the Fusion on according to the instructions on the can. After I was done painting the last coat, I would let the part sit for days to give the paint time to cure. Fusion is also at Walmart.
Looks good but im not to wild about the blue. BTW i love that Audiovox Sirius tuner just chillin on the floor!!! GOOD JOB
lookin good man![]()

The blue looks a little lighter in the pics than in person. The tuner was mounted on the dash before the painting, so now it rests on the floor until the console gets built.
