I would believe that it is cover still since the problem was documented while under warranty and has not bee corrected as of yet.

That's the best way I can describe the sound I'm getting from my dash. This has been an issue for a while now, and it comes and goes. It sounds to me like it's coming from near the steering wheel or column, but it's hard to pinpoint.
It's a constant creaking/squeaking sound that is not related to how I have the wheel turned, how fast I'm going, etc. It just creaks like an old door or something. It will go away for a long time, and then magically appear again. I pulled into my driveway hard last week, and it instantly started making the noise again.
I had it into the dealer a few months ago, and he said it was some kind of module in the dash. They replaced that, and the problem went away until last week.
I am now out of warranty by 2,500 miles. Does anyone know any potential fixes, or whether the dealer will give this another try without charging me?
If you've had this problem, you'd know it. It's not the same as the intermediary shaft issues. I had that, too, and this is completely different. I will destroy this truck by running it into a wall and setting it on fire, if I can't figure this out. It's that &*&*^* annoying.
I would believe that it is cover still since the problem was documented while under warranty and has not bee corrected as of yet.
The A/C fan was replaced after a few months. It would make noise on the low settings.

This wouldn't be the A/C fan, although I thought of that. I'm going to the dealer for something, anyway, so I'll try my luck.
My 03 1500HD had the same problem it was the air bag clock spring in the steering wheel.

Thank you. That makes sense, and would be about where I hear this godawful sound.
I have the same problem in my s10. It only happens when i hit about 30mph. Sometimes its there and sometimes its not. Ill check that spring and see if thats the problem.
UPDATE: Bird in my dash is dead. The noise was traced to the parking brake cable. It was rubbing the steering column. It was relocated, and lubed, and the bird died.![]()
Mine started doing that too, but I found it to magically go away when the radio was turned up.....Ha Ha![]()
Smile.....It confuses people
