rearview mirror with compass

i got a 99' sierra with a basic mirror. im thinking about going to a junkyard and getting one of those nice autodimming rearview mirrors with a compass. what i want to know is it just 2 wires: hot-on-ignition and ground? thanks.

The auto-dimming and compass are nice, but when it's hot, the temp display always runs high in my Sierra. My Expedition always been much more accurate.

If push comes to shove you can actually order a brand new one, the company that supplies them for gm is actually "mito" if i remember correctly, we sell them for 350 installed, i dont quite remember how much it was for the mirror/ temp sensor itself

as for the temp running high, its all about the location of the sensor, not quite sure where my stocker is located (never looked) but i usually try to get the sensor somewhere just behind the front grille, where its not in direct wind, but not inside the engine compartment enough to get the abnormally high temp readings.

well i just bought one on ebay about an hour ago for $52. its from a suburban. its got compass, autodimmer, and temperature. its got the the connector and about 6 inches of wire but no temp probe. i read on here that someone bought a temp probe from gm for $13.

funny thing i might add, there was two on ebay, both from the same seller (lkq), both ended within 5 mins of each other, both said they have compass and temp, even though the picture showed that only one had temp. well the one without temp sold for $73, and i got the one that actually did have temp for $50. some ppl are weird.
