my truck is a 92 and i bought the new motor and, but this looks a little more complicated than others that i have changed. i tore down the paneling and there is an inside metal "wall" type panel that holds some of the mechanism behind it my pop rivets. i can unscrew the panel wall and the window starts to slide down as i lower the panel. do i need to remove the panel by getting the window off the sliders and unhook all electronics ect?? i dont know, but if there is a write up that would be nice or any tips or specialty tools would be nice too. thanks.

    Re: window motor swap help!!!

I work on alot of these doors at work. What I found that works good is to get the window down about 3 inches if you can, it makes getting the regulator arms back in slides easier. Leave a couple of the screws on the bottom of the metal panel, pull out on the top gently and remove the clips on the door handle and lock rods. If you have power windows, unhook rod from actuator. Its easier with someone helping you, have them hold the glass, remove the screws on bottom and slide panel back and forth to get it off of the arms. Get a rag or towel, put on rocker panel. You can rest the front of panel on towel and rear of panel on the ground, it will sit there unless maybe your truck is lifted high. You shouldn't need to unhook any wires except for the window motor. Go about replacing the motor as normal. If you have anymore questions let me know.
