Question 03 Tahoe 2nd row captian chair head rest problem

I just recently purchased an '03 Tahoe with the 1st and 2nd row captians chairs. When I try to lay down the seat backs for the 2nd row chairs the head rests will not release. On one side the little plastic keeper on the end of the cable is broken and on the other the cable has failed. The real problem I am having is that for some reason inside the seats the cable will not release the head rest which has caused the cables to fail.

Soooo, has anyone had this problem or does anyone know where I can find an exploded view of the seat back and head rest mechanizm?
    Any help is appreciated!

Part of the reason may be that nobody knows what you are talking about? Not being a jerk here... I know I don't know what you mean. The only seat-folding I do is in my '01 crew cab and the headrest stays on the seat backs when I fold them forward. I couldn't ever find a way to get them out and they will work like that, so I leave them in. Also the owner's manual doesn't say anything about pulling them out.

Good luck! I hope you find the help you need. Are you needing to yank the headrests out of the backs before you can fold them?

    Head Restraint Replacement (Folding)
The folding headrest cannot be replaced separately. Therefore if the folding mechanism has failed, the seat back frame needs to be replaced.

hope this helps. im sure you wanted better news then that.

When I fold my seats forward the head rest releases and folds back, but stays attached. Sorry for the confusion, I have found out that there are a heck of alot of different seat options!

I was really hoping to have several people jump up and say they had this problem and it was a cheap easy fix!

Fantastic! I don't feel so good...

Well my hope is that it has not failed, so to speek, but possibly needs to be lubricated. I am going to the dealer tomorrow to try and get an exploded view of the seat back and see if I can see any problem areas before tearing appart the seat.
