'04 Silverado DRL indicator on dash??

Hey all...

My wife just bought an Equinox, and seeing the DRL indicator on the dash made me wonder if my truck was supposed to have one. I took a close look at the instrument cluster, and sure enough, there appears to be a "spot" for one (unlit outline of the light). These are the first 2 GM vehicles I've owned.

Are all 04's supposed to have a dash indicator for DRL's when they are on? If not, is there a way to determine whether or not it is supposed to be there, based on production codes in the glove box, or vin, or something else?

Since all the other instrument panel lights seem to be working, I assume this is not a fuse issue (correct me if I'm wrong here).

If the lamp in the dash needs to be replaced, how difficult is this to do? I haven't pulled the dash apart on this truck, as I've only owned it for about 6 months.

My 06 Silverado work truck does not have the DRL indicator, but my 05 Express does. I don't think they're hooked up on these trucks. It might have to do with the automatic headlights, as our Express van has manual lights.

Based on the fact that your '06 doesn't have it hooked up, I'm going to guess that is the case on mine as well. Just out of curiosity, does your '06 have the "spot" on the instrument cluster where the light would be (the blacked out symbol for the DRL indicator that would light up if you had the indicator)?

FWIW, the equinox has auto headlights, but the control is on the left side stalk rather than the dash, and there is no option to manually override them like in my silverado.

No in dash indicator on my base model '04... I removed the DRL relay. It does throw a body code that will show with a OBDII scanner. But no MIL's

I don't believe any 99+ has a DRL indicator. Neither my '99 or my '04 has one.
