I had a similar problem when I was messing around with led's. Turns out that I fried my dimmer control. Just happened to have the old one laying around, put it in and fixed the issue. Something to check at least.

I just did an install for an overhead console. I pulled pos and neg from some unused pins under the relay box by your left foot. Now I lost my illumination. I checked ALL the fuses twice and still no illumination. I then disconnected every wire I installed, yet STILL no illumination.
Is there any chance I touched something and smoked the relay or am I just missing the fuse ? I checked them again and again but none are blown. When I turn on the lights in the overhead console the PRN123 digital display flicks. I think I tapped into a floating ground or something.
Any else ever have to troubleshoot this problem ?
NO illumination on the guages or A/C..... 2001 HD.

Yeah but check this out. I was coming home and talking on the CB and I noticed when driving, when I key the microphone to talk on the CB it kills my PRND123 green LED readout on the dash. When I let off the mic it comes back on. Isn't that odd ? I feel now it is related to the CB antenna splitter I used. I am going to disconnect that portion and see if I get them back.
The splitter I used has the CB plug, then coming from the factory antenna plugs into a hole on the splitter, then another plug goes out to the radio. It allows you to use your factory antenna for a CB antenna.
