If it doesnt have the harness all you need is a power and a ground. Just tap in from the dome light and you should be ok. Thats what I did in mine.

I recently put an overhead console in my 94 5.7, heres my question. I was hopeing the wiring harness would be up there but I didnt see it. am i wrong? should that harness be up there or do i need to wire it myself?

Sorry SoCal, this is off-topic, but were the mounting points already in the headliner? I've got the same truck and just got a console for it.

I've read that some 93 and 94 ext cab trucks do have the mounting brackets for the overhead console though.

My 94ec had the holes in it all you need is the speed clip for the screw.

I used a keyed wire because those are the only real overhead lights I use and I'm notorious for leaving them on so I figured if it was keyed it shouldn't even be an issue.
