has anyone done anything to tighten their interior panels so that they don't rattle like crazy over every bump? my truck is lifted so the ride is slightly harsher than normal but it's getting ridiculous. every bump i hit sounds like my interior is about to fall apart.

Lots of double back tape and foam sponge insulation. Make sure all of the clips are in good condition.

My helper sprayed rubberized undercoating around all the interior panel clips and there mating holes and it's a night and day difference to what it was before.

    Re: tighten interior panels?

those were both of my suggestions. these work quite well. i've done both with my own truck. and once i got new hinges and door pins and all that the door didn't rattle so much so it was super quiet after all that. it's another thing you should check out.

    Re: tighten interior panels?

awesome ideas. right now my there's a bunch of broken clips for my driver side door panel that i need to replace. that's most of the noise, but there's just a lot of other squeaks and rattles that i want to try and get rid of.

i think i'll probably do both of those things to keep my interior really quiet. the roads around here really suck right now and it's probably going to be that way for a while. so i want to make sure that everything is held as firmly as possible to keep as much of the noises away as possible.

thanks for the replies. if anyone else has suggestions, post them up too.

Mine are the worst in the ext cab. I need to put something behind the panel that runs over the rear window...it resonates with my exhaust some...

    Re: tighten interior panels?

i don't have that so much, but my extended cab pockets rattle a lot. some people have said to stuff a blanket or something inside of those to deaden the noise.

would sound deadener like dynomat or something like it have a similar effect on keeping the panels tight? i know it would probably help with meangreen95's problem with resonating exhaust, but would it also help to keep the rattles away?

I've heard felt tape does the trick as well.

Black 3M 4200 on the clips, and anywhere that the plastic contacts another panel or the body. http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?...11447&id=15046

I used 5200 on a few pieces in my 03 silvy, and its too tight, you end up breaking everything trying to get it apart.

    Re: tighten interior panels?

Oh god....friggin' rattles drive me insane.

My truck had TONS when I got it. The fuel lines were even rubbing the firewall, that made a noise worse than fingernails on a chalkboard.

My ashtray would rattle when closed, I put a green felt thing I had under the lip of the tray receptacle inside the door and that fixed it.

My Blazer has those door panels everyone wants. Well, the damn things rattled like crazy...so I took the special switch panels off, covered the clips in two layers of duct tape, and pushed them back in. Still a little noise from the pass. side but way better than before.

My instrument cluster rattled so I put a slice of foam under the ring that contacts the column, fixed that.

Right now my front speaker grilles rattle, the black plastic cowl trim outside the windshield, the rear interior side panels (have to figure out how to get those off), and the trim for my rear hatch rattle. Still much better than before and I'm moving along...

its an OBS dude they all do it. My old 97 was terrible. The NBS plastics are softer and padded better, so they dont do it as bad

Adhesive backed felt worked great on the sqeaks in my VW. The door panels would squeak against the painted metal, so I applied the felt to the paint. No more squeaks! It's cheap, easy to work with and comes in a variety of colors.
