cost to install leather

I got an etimate from a local shop to install leather in my ext. Cab silverado and for black leather,suede inserts, and z71 in the headrest he quoted me 1250+ tax does this seem high?

Not really all that high if it is high quality leather and suede. Just go look up the price of a katskinz kit for your truck...

Its about the same price I was getting when I called around. If you install them your self will save a bundle.

ever done it before? if so how hard is it? I think leather seats will really set the interior of my truck off. I have very suttle interior mods which include nu image guages which are silver,silver accents through out the truck on doors,dash bezzle,cup holders, and air vents, and also a doubled din DVD player. I love feeling at home inside my truck i think too many people worry about the exterior of the truck and pay such little attention to where you spend most of your time which is inside the truck.

Yeah ive done my own it only cost me $300 for a Katzkin kit on ebay. Its not really that hard just very time consuming.

Lol wow 300 is a long shot from 1250 I had a few people tell me that other places around will do what I wanted for 800 I might go that route. If u don't mind I'd lpbe too see some pics of your seats.

I just bought a 2009 Sierra Crew Cab and they are going to put leather seat covers (unsew the current cloth and sew on the leather) The dealer is setting up as part of the purchase price. 1200 bucks was what they wanted to charge for the crew cab. The company they use for this aftermarket addition has a better warrenty that the factory leather....

I would like to get something on the headrest....interesting thought...

If it were me I would find some pulled from a suburban or something and just have the rear bench covered. That way you have heat up front, which is awesome.

oh beleive me that has been the route i wanted to take for the longest time but the problem is finding them,making sure they are in great condition, and chances are id have to pay out the ass for shipping if i didnt find them local (which isnt very likely). when i mentioned leather seats to my Girlfriend thats the first thing she said was i had to get some heated seats because winter time is coming up lol

yeah they can be hard to find. Call your local salvage yard, I bet they can find a burban or hoe with leather seats. You will never buy a truck without heated leather again.

lol i really really wanted leather in this truck but when i was shopping for one back in 07 the price for the Z71's used WERE OUTRAGEOUS all the dealerships were saying they were fortunate to even have one on the used lot and they weren't giving them away. then i found this truck with only 40k miles in great condition and also had 20" rims,35" tires,and 6" lift i was just hoping i would open the door and see leather but to my dissapointment it was cloth but i still couldnt pass it up

Check out www.gtcovers.com They offer several materials and you can get a more custom look with them. I have not used them but if I had to guess, I would bet that the shop that is charging you 1200 is buying from a place like this and raping you on labor. Imagine the satisfaction of having leather, saving a bundle and telling your buddies that you did it. I get alot of satisfaction from DIY work, maybe it is just me!

Yea im DEFINATELY not paying the 1200$ i may just try to order what i want from elsewhere and get the leather myself at a good deal and maybe just go pay to have it put in i will probably come out better that way. and thanx man you too
