A 97 dash will not fit in a 91, the interior is diffrent.

You will have to change the door panels with the dash for it to fit.

A '97 dash will fit in a '91 just fine. It just takes some work.

It's been a while since I pulled one, but there aren't many bolts holding it. 2 or 4 in the footwells and a few in the defroster vents. Unbolt the steering column so it can drop and allow you to tilt the dash forward and pull out all the wiring and ducting. It's a pain.

Many, many people have done this update. The passenger airbag wasn't an option on half-tons. It was standard. 3/4- and 1-tons didn't have the passenger airbag. Instead they had a pocket in the dash where the airbag would be. Many who do the update use this pocket or fill the hole with screens or game systems. You could leave the bag in place, I suppose, but it would be non-functional.

I stood around and watched my bodyman do it.

On an '88-'98 sportside bed, the best taillight fillers money can buy are already on the truck: the stock taillights. So, those are my fillers. They're filled using Marine Tex and a little bit of fiberglass.

Pretty much this, other than don't forget that one stupid screw to the lower right of the steering column area; it's down low, on a support bracket. Sumbitch will hold the whole dash up. Just another one of the 7mm-headed trim screws.

ok so im guessing he used the fiberglass first and the marine tex to smooth it all out?

Theres threads on here about doing the swap.. also the gauges are different and theres threads on that too... rob the ductwork from the newer dash too! Most of the wires that will hold you up on the dash removal are the headlight, the couple black boxes mounted to the metal dash cross bar kinda between the column and lighter plugs, and the A.C. unit wiring is accessed easily once glove box is removed.. idunno bout the older dash but these will tick ya off trien to remove the newer dash.. There are also two bolts under the passenger airbag accessed thru glove box hole.. can't remember if theres much more than whats already been mentioned. Good luck man
