So in my 2000 Ext cab, the front power seats are starting to get some play in them. They still move and function properly, its just they have a "wobble" or "rock" to them. Anytime you stop, they will slide or rock forward probably 1/4- 1/2". I feel like a bolt on the mounting bracket fell out or a hole that holds in a bolt is stripped.

Any help on diagnosing this problem would be a huge help. Ive already tried removing the seat to look at it but that looks to be a little more work than I expected. Am I wrong or can the weekend warrior figure it out?

I just had the seats out of my 02 last week; it's not hard at all. I believe it took an 11mm for the back bolts and 15 mm for the front. It's just a matter of sliding the seats forward and back all the way to access the bolts, then unplugging the wire harnesses underneath.

accually removing the seat is the easy part. its fixing the seat rails is the issue. i fixed the seats in my 2000 gmc and getting them apart is not fun but not impossible. Once you know how should take an hour or less. start with the passenger seat first unless you have another vehicle. dont forget to disable the airbags first. i dont have a write up on how i did mine but send me a message if you have questions.

Its gonna be the rubber bushings that have dissolved due to the grease they used. It causes the seat to slide forward and backward upon stop and accelerating. There is a detailed kit on ebay that sells for around 15.00 shipped. I installed it on mine and it works great. It will take 4-6 hrs to install on both seats but once you do one side the other is much easier. The kit has pics and comes with nylon bushings to replace the worn out ones.
