Recover center console - Whainyl coveringt do you think?

It's time to redo the center console in the SS. What was burgundy is now purple and looks hideous, so I've pulled it out of the truck and started to remove the vinyl covering. Here's what it looks like in the truck:

I have black vinyl and I was thinking of just redoing it in the same way, but with new padding for the top and maybe finding some simple black nailheads to run along the outer edge as it's difficult to get a clean install along the top side edge. Yes, I would love to have fiberglass, and now that I don't drive her everyday, I can feasibly do that, but I'm going to wait a while and just use the black vinyl. Does anyone have photos of what they've done to their center console using vinyl or another material Just looking for some other ideas at this point while I'm still in the removal-of-the-old-material phase.

Also, I'd like another way to frame the CD Changer.... I certainly don't like the way I had it originally, and not sure why I did it that way, but if you've got an idea or suggest, I'm open to it
