DIY Painting Dash and Interior Trim?

Well I was kinda bored tonight, and I decided to clean out my glove box. Then I decided to take off the glove box door to clean it up and I kinda steam rolled from there. Here's how my interior looks now.





I was just gonna clean all the dust off of them, but now I kinda want to clean them up and paint them. What all do I need to pull this job off? and what are some tips that you guys can give me. I don't have a spray gun or anything so I'll prolly use the AutoZone style spray cans. I don't want it to be a show winner, but right now the interior pieces just look sorry so I figure it couldn't hurt.

do you want to leave the grain pattern, or do you want the pieces smooth? if smooth, you need to use some filler, then some high build primer to get it smooth. be sure to sand it before paint, use 80 grit. if leaving the grain, just sand it with 80 then spray it.
use 400 grit in between coats. and 600 or 1000 in between the clear. then wetsand with 2000 (i think) when you are done with clear IF you want more shine.

WTF Yeah what he said I'd just leave it like it is now, I mean I just have a console extension piece sitting on the center hump not attached to anything, wrong color...what else could you ask for :LOL:

That brings back memories, I rolled with no dash for a while. I called the "industial look", when someone asked what happend to my dash.

I've heard that you have to do the soft plastic areas (like the glove box door) with
fiber glass though so it doesn't crack. I haven't attempted min yet so I don't know for sure.

If your using the same color and the rattle can interior paint, just clean it down real good with a plastic prep cleaner then paint. make sure you cover and tape up the rest of the interior and windows or you'll have over spray all over them.
