I've read before that people can peel out 100' long with these....me? I cant even chirp the tires.
And im getting a clunk when It downshifts sometimes, and when I go from park-drive, or reverse, kinda like a u-joint is bad, but its brand new. Could it be the strap isnt the correct one? Its tight as hell, but one isnt the right one.
Also, I noticed, I got a loud clunk when i was turning around in a parking lot.

Im not sure whats going on here.

I had 3.42's on my 03 Sierra and went to 4.88 and did not have any of those problems. I was able to burnout pretty good, even able to chip through 1st and 2nd gear while turning. You better recheck your chit

The clunk while turning is your locker locking and unlocking.

That just does a 'chirp...chirp...chirp' as im turning, this was a big thud. I think im going to take the cover off and check things before the 500mi is up.

You should still hear a clunk when it engages and disengages. I've had a few Detroits over the years. They're pretty noisy lockers. But it wouldn't hurt to take a peak in there.

You shouldn't be trying to burn out or even chirp the tires during the first 500 mile brak in period. Search for some of dirtyblack's posts he has 4.88s in his tahoe and says he didnt notice that much difference at first but then realized it later on.
