selling the wheels/tires and 3" body lift that are on my truck (need cash for performance parts) and I'm gonna go back to the stock wheels with some kind of all-terrain tires (probably like what I have now... only 16")

my cousin has a '95 ECSB 4x4 with 285's on it and I like it, looks a lot better than 265's do.

could a 305/70 fit WITHOUT ANY RUBBING on stock wheels? I've already trimmed the bumper/valance for the setup I have now, but would they want to hit the frame or the back of the fender? don't know if it matters, but the truck sits decently high in the front to begin with (seems to be one of the higher sitting factory trucks I've seen in this neck of the woods)

I don't want the tires to rub in any way, shape or form, so if a 305 would rub the frame or the back of the fender, forget it, I'd rather go with the smaller 285's w/o rubbing.

    any pics?

    thanks,
    rob

I have no experience with 305's but I do have 285's on my tahoe and I rub them on and off road. Go with the 285 to be safe IMO. There is one area of rubbing that will happen no matter what you do, and that's on the lower control arm. The stock wheels are set in so much that it's hard not to rub there.

a 305 (roughly 12" wide) is probably a LITTLE too wide for a 7" wheel anyway, right?

I know 285's are much narrower than a 305, but they are by just a hair.. I think that's what I'll go with

    thanks guys,

The 305s are not 12" wide and they work fine on factory wheels. They may not rub on your frame as the 95 and down trucks did not turn as sharp as the 96 and ups so the wheel may not turn enough to reach the frame. If you've already trimmed some then you'll be ok IMO.

    305/70/16= 32.81x12
    285/75/16=32.83x11.22

    305's ARE 12"s WIDE

Not that its always what you HAVE TO GO BY. But heres the recomended rim sizes-
    285-7.5-9
305-8-9.5 plenty of people run 10" wide rims tho, some even 7" with the 305's.

Ive had 305's on 00' stock wheels and they fit fine on the wheels. As far as rubbing, like said before, it might be different between years, but I had minor frame rubbing at full lock.. Go for it, you'll have no probs.
