9.00x16 Power king 35.5x10.5ish good or bad

After seeing a few pics of these 9.00x16 Power king Super Traction LT tires on a few trucks in the Q78 thread recently, I decided to try and find a set. It was a pain since they don't seem to be very common, but I found some for $129 each.

To those of you that have had them, how do you like them. They are tall and narrow, like 35 1/2 tall and 10 or 10 1/2 wide. They are rated at 3,000lbs not 2500ish like most other tires in this size (buckshot mudder and TSL Q78,s)

It recomends like a 7inch rim so I was going to go to the junkyard and pick up some stock steel rims. Would the backspacing on these work well or not.

Would these tires look odd as in too thin on my truck, it is a a95 3/4 ton ECLB with 3in body lift, 3in rear blocks, 2 1/2in crank.

I hunt and go to work with this truck, now and again go on roadtrips and pull a trailer with it. I don't off road too much but occationally when hunting(I don't go looking for mud on purpose really).

    Thanks, Mikep

I was thinking about getting some of those tires too, where did you buy them from?

I don't have them yet, but am picking them up tomarrow in dallas. When I pick them up I will take measurements and let you know exact measured sizes.

Does anyone have much first hand experience with these, off road, on road, mileage, noise, balancing and such.

    thanks all

I think those are the ones dirtyblackhoe had on his Z then he sold them to another member on here with a teal 98 ext. cab shortbed. Try a search for dirtyblackhoe or for powerkings somethin should come up.

Re: 9.00x16 Power king 35.5x10.5ish good or bad

I just got back home with the tires. I measured them unmounted and it came to just over 34in and tread was 9in. This in un mounted so I suppose it will grow an inch taller since they are bias ply, and bulge an inch wider as well in the side wall.

Tomarrow I will pick up some stocker wheels and get them mounted up and put on the truck. These tires are narrow for a 35inch tire and hopefully will stay inside the wheel well. I want the ground clearance but not the width that most taller tires come with. The few tires that seemed to fit this size were only C rated and I actually use my 3/4 ton as a 3/4 ton and wanted a D or E rated. These are D rated @3000lbs.

I'll take pics after I get the tires on and such. I'm eager to get them on

    Thanks, Mikep

Thanks GMC, I checked out that site and that is what I payed for them, $129 a piece. Only I picked mine up from the wholesaler. From that site shipping would have been kinda high, quoted $175 to north central texas for 4 tires. I picked up 5 tires (4+1spare) for $700 even, tax included.

They were kinda hard to find though, I talked to every shop local and called all of the dealers in a 100 mile radias acording to the manufacture web site and no one had them, or could get them, or showed intrest in finding some, or had no idea what I was talking about and thought I was an idiot.

Sorry I didn't see this post till now, but I think the 9s are just what you're looking for. I know probably a half-dozen or so guys running them on 3/4 tons. Other than needing to keep them rotated well, you shouldn't have any problems with them.

Re: 9.00x16 Power king 35.5x10.5ish good or bad

I got them put on yesterday but got dark before I could get any pics. They fit great and don't think I will have to trim at all, we will see when I get off road some time. The front tires are perfectly at the edge of the wheel well but the rears tuck in an inch or two. If the factory rims had mabey a little less backspacing it would be nice. I suppose spacers would even it up with the wheel well opening.

On the truck the tires measure 34.75in, off the truck and on 6.5inch factory rims they were 35.25 tall.

My fender height is 43.5 in front and 44.5 in the rear now. My truck has a 3in body lift, 3in rear blocks, and cranked the torsion bars(GL's) 2.5ish tall.

    I'll post pics later

    thanks Mikep

I got pics on the camera but I got to figure out how to get them on the computer and then posted here. My wife is good at this stuff, I'll pick her brain when she gets home later. I think it really looks good and happy with it.

ATC, sorry but I cannot tell you how it rides just yet. My 4l80E went out in dec and the new one is in my garage waiting to go in, but while I had the tranny out I figured I would go ahead and rebuild the engine (basic rebuild with a mild cam, 9.4comp, and full length headers). The block is ready to be picked up from the machine shop on monday. So hopefully I'll be able to let you know soon how it rides. I'm eager to see myself.

    thanks all, Mikep

Holy crap, thanks 98chevy, I actually go the pics to post. As bad of quality as they are, I do know how to post pics now so thats cool.

Also, I just did the body lift and have not put the gap guards on so take it easy.

If there is any part you want me to take closer pics of just let me know or if you want to see some thing more clearly or what ever. It was getting dark and I wasn't using the best camera so it is kinda hard to see in some pics.

Also, what do you think of the rear, where the wheels seem tucked in. They are factory rims and factory backspacing(4.5) on6.5x16. The fronts are perfect but the rear tucks in 1.5-2inchs from the fender well lip. I think it would look better flush.

    Thanks all, Mikep

Your truck is tall now and the tread is really deep.
