imo you would be better off putting the money towards an aftermarket locker or limited slip. I toasted mine in my truck and its only got 14000 miles on it with the stock tires. I was planning on buying a detroit for it but it's under warranty so I guess I'll just keep getting them replaced until i need to buy one.

i have for another guy and the one in my truck. The only reason i did in mine is b/c no 1 offers an aftermarket locker for my rear end. In the other guys i rebuilt his b/c i could make more money that way lol.

Anyhow, you can buy the spider gears, ring and pinion, carrier on ebay and for the locking mechanism go to the dealer.

    Re: G80 rebuild

The g80 in the 14 bolts is decent. If your attempting to rebuild the g80 in a 10 bolt your throwing your money down a hole. You would be a lot better off picking up an aftermarket one. If you dead set on the g80 (for what reasons I couldn't possibly fathom) go to a junkyard and pick one up cheap. Its not like its going to have any worse chance of surviving than a new/rebuilt one. Either way its a hand grenade with the pin pulled.

i gots a 14 bolt semi float if its the same how much? and the reason i want to rebuild it is because i dont think 700 dollars is worth it just to spin both tires even though i know the g80 is crap its perfect for my needs. but i do want a detroit.

stop being a cheap bastard. why would you even think to waste money on rebuilding something that you know is going to blow up anyways? buy the detroit and be done with it.

Don't waste your money. Get a Detroit TruTrac and don't look back.

I had an AAM 11.5 rear, and I bought a Tru-trac for it. There was also a few limited slips out there for it also.
