poor quality? are you sure you were looking at a Sky kit? after seeing all of the stuff in the shop, and the two SAS kits i got from them (original order was screwed up by a kid on the phone who got fired shortly after, ended up with a kit for a Toyota to put full width axles under it ), their products are great quality.

You've been hanging around GMFS too much, their level of ignorance is rubbing off on you

I dunno what you didn't like about the Sky kit, I love mine. Sure, the crossmember needs a little extra support, but other than that, IMO, it's the best kit on the market.

Yep, yep I'm 100% sure it was sky. Thin metal, birdsht welds. I think for the cost of what you get, and what you'll still need. fabing up your own kit would be better.

Re: sky manufacturing 6'' sas kit

every bit as thick, if not thicker than the ORU kit that's on my truck now (and yes, i have had them side by side), welds looked just fine, maybe not 100% perfect, but neither is my ORU stuff.

yeah, you could build something with thicker material, but its not necessary. look how long and hard Kyle has beat on the ORU brackets under the front of his truck. IIRC, he said he's got one hanger with a dent in it, but that's to be expected when playing in the rocks.

Actually Jason put the dent in them. He had them on his truck for 3 years or so before I put them on my rig.

better yet. if they werent any good, they never would've lived on his truck for 3 years. and obviously, he could've fabbed his own, probably in his sleep.

Theres nothing wrong with the kit itself... just the way tin which its installed that you'll have problems.

Re: sky manufacturing 6'' sas kit

yup,to sell the rear 60 to someone with a Jeep and put a 14 bolt under there instead. seriously, the 10.5" 14 bolt is cheaper to build and stronger than the Dana 60 rear.

if you've got 4" springs, and the Sky steering kit, the only thing can think of is extended brake lines and upper shock mounts... should be set then. don't forget to brace the front crossmember!!! the original pics of the install at the top of this thread is NOT the correct way to install it.

X2, don't waste your time with the rear 60, it will be your weak link........ your rear end failing should be the last thing on your mind.

Thats a tough question. Do some ebay & craigslist searches to see what others are selling for. Then put it on your local craigslist and start fishing.

About two months ago I passed up a pair of D60's (78 front ) for $1000 because the kid wouldn't split up the pair. Pretty sure he's still trying to get rid of them. I couldn't do it because I'd end up being stuck trying to sell that rear end, and would probably end up scrapping it. He kept insisting it had a $500 detroit in it, so it should be worth at least that much lol....
