I have been looking at the lift thread and have seen some different options but cant really see what the main differences are. I have seen tons of rcx and figure thats what ill be going with. the main thing is i would like to keep as close to the stock ride as i can with a 1996 1500 with 6 inch lift and 35's. I didnt know if this can be accomplished with different shocks than what comes in the kits or what. any help with this would be appreciated thanks

The RCX includes shocks, but they suck. I've heard the upgraded shocks suck too.

yes i know i will have to change the suspension. I just dont want it to ride like the few trucks i have rode in with a lift felt like there wasnt much suspention at all was way to stiff for my liking. If i was to buy Bilstein or Fox shox do you think this woul change the ride much and do you know if upgrading leaf springs to the one that dont need lift blocks change the ride much thank you for the help
well i've found with rcx it is a rough ride hint the name rough country but with a fab tech its like having a stock suspension on the truck smooth from what i found but they are pricey
thanks for the help. anyone know how much the ride changes by changing to a differnt shock like bilstein?
I would go with a full throttle lift. a way better ride quality than a Fabtech or a RCX. for a very reasonable price. message me I can get you a fair price.
pm'd
If you are looking for an inexpensive lift for a DD that does light offroad and you want to have a good ride quality, buy a Rough Country lift and don't over crank it, then swap out the shocks for Bilstein 5100's. I am a Rough Country dealer so feel free to PM me for pricing.

I just went throught the same thing your talking about. I just bought the 6"RCX lift with the standard shocks and purchased the bilstein 5100's at the same time. I hope to install everything this weekend. I will let you know how it rides when Im done. I wanted clost to stock ride as you and hopefully the bilsteins will help.
get a rough country with a rough ride, you get what you pay for.
Not everyone has $3k to drop on a lift.

if your gonna do it. do it right.
Like I said, not everyone can afford that. If your going to "do it right", ditch the IFS and don't waste your money with the full throttle kit.

My RCX kit is "right" for me. Its not my DD and I couldn't care less how it rides.

anyone have any experience with aftermarket leaf springs?
I'm currently running the rcx kit for nbs (04) truck...I don't know why people complain about the ride....I'm running the standard shocks and their anti-wrap blocks and it rides like a caddy....

I actually didnt get completly done. It has taken me alot longet thank 8 hours to finish. I had problems with getting my front differential to fit back in and you also have to cut the exhaust in the front to allow the drive shaft to fit so I hope to finish up early this week I need to get a few pieces of pipe and see if I can weld an exhasut up lol. I will also have to get an alignment which prob wont happen till next weekend. Sorry for the delay man!
