50 degrees in february? How could you not be wheeling today? Awesome day with only minor damage. Serious rockcrawling even though pictures DO NO JUSTICE for the situation. Cant figure it out. they never do. Anyway other than the usual scrach and dents, only ripped off one fender flare, and caved in right rear corner of bed.Pretty good. One thing for those of you out there running wall mart batteries. my Optima yellow top battery got jolted so hard on an obstacle today it somehow jarred itself free from its hold down bracket and flipped over completely upside down and landed right on top of my header. I finished the hill climb like this and kept driving for about five minutes. Then I parked to watch someone else climb the hill and noticed antifreeze pouring out of my engine bay. popped the hood and noticed the battery upside down burning on the exhaust, and found it knocked out my coolant overflow line. Reconnected that and put the battery back in its place. The top is melted like hell. unreal... So if you were comtemplating buying one, let this story help you make up your mind. the battery still works like new

Beautiful truck, great shots looks like it was a really fun day
I love global warming. Ive done more wheeling this year than ever and I attribute that to our high pollutant open exhaust fuel burning Chevy V-8's. Let the exhaust flow and the polar ice caps melt the wheeling has never been better!
PS.....go ahead, the nagging moms of FSC start to tear me up for that one then preach greenpeace and tread lightly.

Hi 891ton,
Great story about our battery and thank you for choosing a YellowTop. We can't stress the importance of using a battery designed for deep-cycle use (like our YellowTop) enough in the 4x4 community, where deep-cycle accessories like winches and refrigerators are commonplace. We are always looking for great stories like your's and would love for you to follow the link and tell your story.
Just take my spacing out of link and it will take you there.

If the folks who run our traveling “Wall of Power” display like your story, they may offer to trade you that battery for a new one.
Thanks,

Awesome news Bill, I will definately share my story with them. Even better though is the picture I will send of the top of the battery melted clear through. Im amazed at what it tollerated. And every person on the trail was too. ANY other type of battery would have left me stranded that day miles from nowhere.

Here is a pic of my Optima Yellow Top Bill. I sent in the story but never heard anyting back from them in regards to replacing the battery. The yellow on my header is where it was melting to it.

wow that battery is crazy!
yeah you aint kidding. A couple weeks ago I went wheeling and had to winch up a hill when I blew a bead on my tire. For it to be able to put up with everyday use, on top of winching! Im going to keep using it till it sh*ts the bed. I carry a spare on my tow rig if worse came to worse.
