A friend of mines 1992 Prelude shut down everything one night, but car kept running for ten min then died, but nothing else had power.
Her parents think its a bad altenator.
I almost think it blew a main fuse possibly due to bad battery? I thought this because the car sat from around june to last weekend.
What you think? She has no mechanical knowledge and lacking funds.
If you can help me diagnosis it, I have tools to fix it.
Thanks

I'm gonna go with a bad ground. When you say it "shut down, but kept running", I presume you mean no lights, dash etc, but the engine ran. Then ten minutes or so, engine dies also, right?
Check the main cable from the battery to the frame. Then frame to engine grounds. I'd say sitting around for a few months lead to corrosion. Also check the positive connection of course.
X2 on the ignition switch on the column. Not uncommon for this era Honda. HTH,

i'd guess battery.

jk jk. my bro had a gaylude and he had nothing but problems out of it. best thing i can tell you to do is browse some honda forums and see if you can find some info to your problem. i can almost garentee you will get more info out of a honda forum quicker then what you can over here on FSC.
