I can get my hands on a 1983 Ford F350 rollback for $2200 with a wheel lift. Interior is ROUGH and cab has some rust. Has a 17ft Jerr-Dan aluminum body on it. All hydrauics work great, tires are good, runs and starts good. It will be used only for scrapping cars. Should get into this or is this gonna be something I will regret?

I'd get into it for that cheap. The bed is probably worth almost that to the right guy.

Is it diesel or gas? Trans? Mileage?

Brake lines are gonna be the biggest thing if they're close to being rotted out, that doesnt sound like a fun job on a long truck like that.

Since you said the cab is rotted I'd look under the truck real good too ....like make sure the first time you put scrap on it the leaf spring doesn't seperate from the shackle LOL

Thats what I was thinking. If worst comes to worst and the truck failed on me, the bed is worth at least $1700 up where I am. Its got a 460 gas motor under the hood followed by a 4 speed manual trans. Its got 160k on it. Brake lines are a good point, I sure as hell don't want to be dealing with like 20ft of line! I will be looking at it this Saturday and I will absolutely be all under it checking the frame and cab mounts for rot.

CHeck it out good....The 460 at 160k is a little scary but I'd run it till it dies......It probably has like 4.10 r 4.56 gears so it'll be ok for power. no good or powerful by any means but it'll do what you want it to do fine.

    ashame it's not a 6.9 diesel.

oh and of course make sure all the hydraulics on the bed work lol.
