I was talking to a friend of mine today and he has a very low mileage 99 Vortec 350. I was thinking about putting it in my 94 GMC and getting rid of the 350 tbi motor. Would I then be able to use my Dynatech longtube headers and midpipes with the high flow converter that I took off my 03 Sierra Denali? I have done a couple mods to the TBI motor and she is still really lame. Also, should I just buy an intake and carb with a nice billet distributer and forget about trying to figure out how to get everything to work? Any Idea also in power gain going from the 94 TBI to the Vortec?
Sorry for so many questions but I really want to use my longtubes on this truck and get some of the sound back with more power. lol

Well, if it truly is a 350 (5.7) vortec than your 6.0 Denali headers WILL NOT WORK. The 5.7L vortec has the standard small block chevy exhaust outlet. O_OO_O All of the LS based vortecs (4.8, 5.3 and 6.0) all use a different everything and the exhaust ports look like this O_O_O_O.

As for can you use a carb depends on whether you have emissions testing in maine. If you do, you'll never pass. I think your best bet would be to rebuild your tbi motor, use some L98 heads, good cam 454 TB and some matched injectors, custom burned prom and maybe a supercharger. You'll make all the power you need and still keep it driveable and cold weather friendly.

    no, totally different engine platform
should I just buy an intake and carb with a nice billet distributer

due to the use of the 4L60e transmission itll be harder to apply. youd
have to replace the 4L60e with a th700R4 to make it work correctly.

Thanks guys, I guess I will forget about that then.. haha
The TBI motor runs good, just turned 97k miles but was looking for a little more and the price on the vortec was/is next to nothing.
I put the Corsa cat back on from my Denali and you can't even hear it, I use to be able to scare people when the exhaust was on the Denali.. haha
I guess I will cut the cat off and clean her out and then weld it back on to see if I can get some more sound. She is way to quiet.. lol
    Thanks again for the replies..
