How difficult is it to make a 2wd 4L60E trans work in a 4wd application?
Swap bellhousing, tailshaft, and output shaft?

Looking for possible another trans, I can find 2wd version all over the place but never the 4wd ones.

2wd to 4wd tail shaft housing is different.

What year 2wd trans are you getting, depending on that you may or may not to change the bellhousing.

output shaft is shorter on 4wd (transfer case) than the 2wd, plus the speed
    sensor attaching is gone.

What would need to be done w/ the speed sensor gone? What is the way around that?

yup,I did this for darkfox1-you do have to tear the trans down, good time to go ahead and rebuild as stated above, the output shaft and tailshaft housing are all you'll need to swap.
