I'm sick of my engine. Sick of TBI. Sick of unsatisfactory power. I'm going to build an engine and I want some serious power. I want an LT1 based 396 and either a single or twin turbo's depending on whats available and will work the best. How much will it cost to build an all forged cast iron blocked LT1 with good flowing cast iron heads and build it to handle 15 pounds of boost? Then of course I'm going to have to get all the wiring and computer and chit from an LT1 car but its worth it. TBI can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. What kind of tuning is available for LT1s as well?

LMAO, what happened to the love of your TBI? Your lack of power is from lack of proper fueling and lack of proper timing. I also have mentioned that you have a pretty bad mis-match to your combo. Its not a defiecincy of the TBI in any way, shape, or form.

My stock MD 350 TBI roller cam long-block with stock swirl ports, an intake, ultimate TBI mods, open element, high flow cat, catback exhaust, 4.3 injectors at 32 PSI, and DIY chip tuning has run a 15.97 @ 89.32 with a 2.14s 60' time. I run a 2,800 Yank converter, 4L60E, 3.73 gears, Eaton Posi, and P295/50/R17s. I have no complaints on power.

I got properly high off the exhaust fumes and wasn't thinking clearly. I'm sick to death of the son of a beechin pile of crap and want something that is worth while.

    I figured 4-5k too

You will need an injector upgrade for that as well. Look for 400 FWHP @ 5,800 when you get it properly tuned.

Thats not enough to even mess with. If I can't get at least 600 at the crank I'm not even gonna mess with it.

You are going to need alot more than a 600 HP engine to drive your truck reliably.

I know the tranny would last about half a second behind 600HP, I'm surprised the pile hasn't cratered already.

unless you are just madly in love with your truck, why not just sell the truck and buy a LT1 car? Supercharge that or STS turbo and i'm betting that would be more more than enough to make you happy for quite a while.

Why not go to the closet, get out my dad 17 and pull the trigger with it pointed to my head? I can't. Thats why. Why can't I? Because I can't point it and reach the trigger at the same time. Same reason I can't buy a 96. I'd have to kill myself but I couldn't reach the trigger.

    oldred95:

Dang dude, you don't sound like your usual self tonight.

If you want a great big-block, look at a 502 or if you have significant bucks, a 572 would give you enough torque to pull virtually anything.

For $5000, you can build-buy a very mean small block.

Look at some complete engines for sale on www.summitracing.com or www.jegs.com

Heck, I can get my friend who builds the tractor pulling engines to come up with something for you. John Deere or Chevrolet, he can build them and they last.
TBIChips Custom chip, 180 stat, 1" spacer,Witch Hunter injectors, Performance module-Cap-Rotor and 50,000 volt "Screamin' Demon" coil, Taylor 8.2mm wires, AC Delco plugs, true-duals, Magnaflow hi-flow cat, Spin-techs, 2" drop shackles...more after that!
