Okay, so here's the deal. About a year ago I blew the engine in my Yukon and replaced it with one from Jasper that has a "towing cam" in it. (whatever the hell that means) I finally dug up the specs on it, they are as follows 198/210-.435/.462 with a .112 LSA. How much different is this compared to stock. I mean, How much if any HP is this cam good for on a 96' L31 engine? I have a CAI with true duals and no cats. The reason I am asking is because I am looking into getting a custom tune and wondered if this would make a difference. Is it worth mentioning to the tuner or no?

    That's an improvement over stock:192°/197° duration @ 0.050" lift with .414"/.429" lift on a 111°LSA.

You got higher lift and an a little higher durations so it should make a differnce. I would mentioned it to the tuner so it can be properly tuned and give you a little more grunt! The cam looks really good for towing!

How does it drive with the cam?

Not bad at all, to be as heavy as it is, it will haul ass! Gas mileage sucks though! I went from 14-17mpg on the old engine to 12-15mpg(mostly 12) on the new one. But I still think that may have something to do with my size 13 gas pedal pusher!!!!

That's good to hear, that cam is designed for extra power down low. I've seen guys with similiar or just tad bigger cams on their 5.3's and love for the extra torque gains. With the tune you'll see some improvement.

You are correct about being an improvemnt over the stock L31 cam, so long as Jasper installed a roller cam in the tow engine and didnt cheap out and install a flat tappet cam.
