I've got a 96 K3500 dually lifted 3" body, 33" tires. I'm having problems with my Trans not holding 4th ( goes into limp mode). I shut it off the 10 sec. later runs fine. But anyway my plan is to buy me an obd2 to USB cable so I can scan, and graph my truck to see what is happening. The one I'm looking at on Ebay is Elm 327 based cable, But here is the thing will these cables work with programs like Tunercats, or LS edit, or do all of these programs require a proprietary cable?

Computers are my thing,.... building engines, and body work are also my thing ,but I have just not tried programming or tuning my car as of yet because, everything I mess with is usually carb'ed.

Any help would appreciated, or if anyone knows what different things causes a 4l80e to go into limp mode that would be appreciated too.( the trans pulls great, believe it or not it doesn't do it as much when I pull my horse trailer)
