well i got the funds now to do it and i guess its the right time . now i dont want a stroker or start with a 350 . i just wanna rebuild my 305 with some more power .
its a 96 305 v8 . im gonna do the upgrade on the injection system and the intake gaskets and the lt4 sensor . now off to what i should do .
i want the heads milled but how much should i do ?? also what pistons do you recommend , im fine with boring it out a little bit to freahen it up and get more displacement .
also what cam should i run . i want a nice mean idle and good all around town driving . gas milege doesnt concern me becuase i ride my bike mostly with these prices . also its gotta be reliable to go to miami sometimes to see ole grandma lol .
mods that will already be on it are a wheatley tune , long tubes , and a intake , and im gonna do eletric fans well im waiting on the motor to be done .
so guys help me to get a perfect list so i can give the builder my specs . im just looking to run high 13's or low low 14's all motor .
thanks guys for the help . and i know i should search and i did it helped me decide what i wanna do with it .

If you plan on using nitro or a super charger in the future then use forged pistons and premium rods. otherwise hypereutectic pistons and stock rods with new bolts are fine. A fresh bore will be best. Also get the rotating assembly balanced. As far as cam choices I would definitely get something bigger then a stock
profile, FAST305 would be able to point you in the right direction. Keep in mind you will need to get a retune of the PCM to maximize the performance of the new cam.

well i need stats like how much should i mill the heads , what pistons should i use . i want good compression and maybe a 75 shot later on for the hell of it . and i already am getitn a tune , im holding off on it now so i can figure out the motor .

You wont hit high 13's without power adders, with a streetable 305 IMO.
You will hit high 13's/low 14's, with the HT383-E. GM built and GM engineered.

Build a 350 It will cost the same and make more power now, and you'll be way ahead if you bring in any power adders later.
well i need detailed info . now i gotta start with a whole different motor . and pay for that motor then rebuild it because i dont wanna risk runnning into what i have now . will a 350 swap right in ? no mods . direct bolt in like the 305 came out

Dude, if you want keep a 305, u can make pretty good power out of them. However the truth is it wont' never have as much potential as a 350. But in your case this is what I'd do: Eagle street/strip balanced rotating assembly, Marine Intake, get a mild head job and maybe bigger valves, 1.6 rockers, new springs, NX wet kit, CNC throttle body (email me about that, i know a great place and there cheap) and a Crane cam like i have (if really interested, i'll get you the pn but I'll say this, on a 150 shot I picked up 200hp, great nitrous cam and daily driver)
Also if your wanting to run this much power, get the 4l60e rebuilt and bullet proof and check a MSD digital 6 (great when running spray)
If I had a 305, with the same setup I was running on my 350(just listed), I bet I could put your truck in the high to mid 13s in the quarter, no bs. If your really intested and want to talk send me a PM

only mill the heads if they need it then only enough to make them flat. 305 heads have 58cc combustion chambers. you can go to 1.82 intakes but after that would be a waste of money. the bores are too small and would shroud th bigger vales even if they would fit.
for a cam use the 305 flat tappet z28.

Sorry....I just can't resist..what is a 'Mild Head Job'!
I have always prefered the radical head jobs myself, but, they get kind of messy.....
My juvenile humor got the best of me. I will grow up now.

Getting back to the point, look at crate motors they are very hard to beat nowdays for price and less frustration chasing parts.
