I'v tryed the liquid fuel injector cleaner that you put in your gas talk before you fill it up and it cleans the carbon deposits in your engine and/or cleans your fuel injectors i'v felt a little bit improvement. What do you guys think about it, whats it done for you?

I used Lucas injector cleaner in my cars and it works pretty well considering the miles on the injectors.
thats the one i used, i also tryed a chevron one it was more but i think it was just because of the name

i have tried a few different brand they all seem to cure the pinging when carbon builds in combustion chamber.
I use it, usually at oil change time. I read somewhere that the Chevron stuff had more cleaner than the rest, most of it is just liquid bottle filler. Seafoam works rally good IMO

The most effective way to clean MPFI injectors used in teh 1996+ trucks is to disabel teh fuel pump, atach a feed hose to the fuel pressure test port, and use some GM Cleans or TEC(top engine cleaner) in a pressurized container mixed with some gas. Start teh truck and have the engien run off teh cleaner gas mix. I beleive Kleenflo or some other company actually makes a pressurized cylinder which comes with teh tets port fitting and teh cylinder is pre presurized and filled with cleaner. Simply disable fuel pump, attach hose and start truck.
be careful, some injector cleaner isnt the best to pur into teh tank as it can harm some fuel pump seals and parts.

I usually use it every oil change just to keep the gunk down in my fuel system. I really dont notice that big of a difference because i use it often though.

i've used it in a few of my vehicles when i thought it was running crappy like stalling/poor idle/misfiring/etc. i don't think it made a significant difference though.
Seafoamed my pinging engine, no more ping!
Now I have a more aggressive tune and still no ping!
im pretty much the same i try and run Sea Foam every oil change in my 05 just to keep it from not tearing up really. no much on being able to noticed something but i dont really wanna have to notice it is the truck is running great lol.

those liquid injector cleaners are watered down mixtures... I like mine concentrated.. what I do is put .3-.4 gallons of kerosene mixed into my tank... this is a super dose of cleaning power. Most injector cleaners contain some sort of kerosene in them. And they come in small bottles; this is nothing compared to .3-.4 gallons! Ive done this on all my injected vehicles with good results. Maybe 2 times a year. I do notice the fuel will burn even longer, while it cleans deposits in the tank, lines, injectors.Originally Posted by chevy_rider88

It probably works better as a maintence thing, as stated above. Once you are having problems it might help some but not remedy the problem. I use it with every oil change.

I agree with SilveradoSexy. I consider it a regular maintenance issue, a can each oil change. Like someone said above, I imagine most of the off-the-shelf stuff is fairly diluted, and is likely not aggressive enough to really make a difference if there's already a problem.

I didn't really start doing it until my second car, a '92 Lumina, and it seemed to help. I got religious about it when we bought the '97 Cutlass from my parents. It had 46k on it, and has 190k on it now, and FI cleaners seemed to help keep the fuel economy up. The plugs lasted forever in that thing, although they did have deposits on them. I switched to using Seafoam about 2-3 years ago, and I don't know if that will improve the deposits, but it has worked well for me in both the car and truck.
Also worth noting IMO, switching to synthetic in the Cutlass really seemed to clean the carbon out of the crankcase. For the first few oil changes, the oil came out extremely black. At this point, even at 4k-5k miles, it has good, albeit dark, color.
