Hey all, i dont typically start my own threads, but I cant find a definitive answer to my questions.
Here is the deal. I am going to College in august and i have to take my truck. I wouldnt mind if college was in OK, but its in AZ around the prescott sedona area. What kinda mods do i need to make that drive comfortably and not have a pig of a truck in the mountains? ive already gotten a better radiator, the old one was corroded anyway. I have 2.73 gears right now, and they are the bane of my existance, upgrading to 3.73s would no doubt help, but what should i get, posi trac, LSD? And should i upgrade the brakes to? if so what all do i need? Its got the 5,000 to 6,000 GVW rated brakes right now. Sorry for the story lol. Thanks in advance, FSC RULES

As far as brake upgrades, you can keep the stock size (compared to running the "big brake" upgrade) and run PowerSlot rotors with Hawk LTS pads. I've noticed an improvement over my previous setup. If that's outside your budget, go with Wagner Quiet Stop pads and a good quality rotor. I haven't done it yet personally, but I've heard good things about replacing the soft brakelines with braided lines too.

Mkay, sounds good to me. Do the new gears sound good to?

Comparing 2.73s to 3.73 is like night and day - based on what I've read. I don't have any experience with gear swaps to know first hand, but I'm sure you'll notice a tremendous difference with that upgrade, especially in hills/mountains. You'll also notice a difference in your fuel economy as you'll be moving from a road gear to more of a pull/haul/tow gear ratio - torque will be applied lower in the RPM band, reducing your top end speed (you'll still be able to run, but if you can hit 100 now, you'll hit the limiter before you get there with the steeper gears).

lol i think itll do 105 right now...but thats a guess since the speedo only goes to 85 and its not calibrated for my tires. Asum sounds good, now to find a place that swaps gears and carriers lol. Thanks!
